Learn to Burn-Wood Burning Workshop-Sat February 25

Have you been wanting to try wood burning? Looking to try a new hobby? Or just looking for something fun to do out of the house? Come Learn to Burn with Samantha, owner of Knotty Beech. I'll teach you my ways of burning wood, what tools to buy, and where to source the wood you'll burn.
Date: Saturday Feb 25th, 2023
Time: 12:00pm to 3pm
Max 5 Participants max
Choose what you would like to burn (photos are examples of what the wood could look like, depending on stock of wood):
                 Set of 4 coasters - $ 70
                 Wall Décor (6x9") - $ 80
Charcuterie Board (1.5" long depending on the stock of wood) - $ 100
From the Maker: (please read, important info when booking)
When you've chosen what you'd like to burn and confirmed your spot online, decide on what design you would like, think silhouettes, simple lettering, line work, something with light shading. Send me an email ( (include your receipt) with a photo of your inspiration (if it's a set of coasters, all the coasters can be something different!), I print out all designs and size them to the medium of choice before the workshop. I will respond to your email including some options of the stock of wood I have for the option you chose. The workshop is set for 2.5 hours, depending on your choice of wood to burn/ design, it may not take the full 2.5 hours.
I'll walk you through my process of wood burning on a pre-designed practice board before you test out your new found skills on your medium of choice.
You'll get to take home your practice board, wood burning work sheets (which includes what you need to get started on your own), and your finished piece you burned during the workshop.
Not every wood burns the same, some burn darker and faster than others. Hard wood vs. soft wood makes a difference. You'll get to try at least 2 different types of wood to see/ feel the difference when burning.
You'll also get to test out 3 different burners, what works for some, may not work for others. The workshop is based using a Walnut Hollow Universal wood burning tool, this is the burner that I recommend for beginners.
Within the photos you’ll find a photo of me with a pet portrait I recently did, I wanted to include this photo, because it shows what practice can do. I’ve been wood burning for 3 years and can create beautiful pet portraits among other items.
Your wood burning projects may not be perfect, but everyone starts somewhere, with practice, anything is possible!
Come on out, learn to burn, make some new friends and have some fun!
