Metio Creations is focused on eliminating textile & landfill waste. We do our best to craft each item with as minimal carbon footprint as possible by sourcing from end of line, deadstock, upcycled or environmentally sensible produced materials. All Metio Creations are made with the intent that each piece is as unique as its buyer & user.
Metio means to 'create' in Esperanto, a language created in 1887 by L. L. Zamenhof to unite the human race and foster world peace. Fascinated by the idea of a world without war, Zamenhof's creation of this language and its foundations runs parallel to the creator and owner of Metio. The word Esperanto itself translates in English as "one who hopes".
Metio Creations initial product originated amid the COVID 19 Pandemic when the need for protective face coverings was at its highest. In an effort to contribute and support, reusable face masks were made for family & friends who were essential front line workers or had extreme public exposure but wanted a more sustainable approach to protecting themselves and others. The mask quickly became a community favorite and the idea to share this made with love story grew.
Erin, owner & creator, decided to make masks and raise money for the Alzheimers Association in their annual Fundraising walk to end this challenging disease. Metio made masks with all proceeds going to the Alzheimers society and with the generosity of so many, was the top fundraiser with over $2,000 in donations. As a whole the organization was able to raise over $55,000 dollars for their 2020 Virtual Walk to end Alzheimers.
We hope you follow our journey to see where we go next!
Lots of Love
